Fiche n°10 - THE BITING

A German Shepherd dog must bit, it seems trivial to say that but it is very important into the official dog's general characteristics.
In fact in nature the biting should permit the dog not to release its prey (practically the prey is a ball, an old clothes etc...)

The burst ballon experience like on the photo is a mean to test the biting.
A good german shepherd must have "biting".

Contrary to attack dogs like the Pitbull for example, the german shepherd dog never bit to to shred its prey but to stop it.
Most of time it just apply a pressure onto the prey's leg to break the bones and stop it.
This is another characteristic of the german shepherd dog.

The biting, that's to say its capability to bit, must be very developped.

For sample one of its favorite play is to steal the stocks of its Master and to stretch them until they break.
