DOGS FORM N°2

Safety  Agent with his german shepherd looking around

Fiche n°2 - The German Shepherd a dog of general-purpose work.

Since antiquity the dog is used by human beings to accompany them in quite precise tasks (drives out, war, guard of herds, guarding...).
In the modern world the dogs were selected to achieve one or more quite precise tasks.

But one of them is particularly detached from the batch by its general-purpose aspect, the German Shepherd dog. Indeed if it is not used for all tasks (seldom used in hunting for example), it is able to do anything.

Commentaire fiche 2
In 1899 Max Von Stephanitz the creator of the German shepherd race wanted to make of it a dog with all capabilties, a true bulldozer with head of wolf, the best shepherd dog able to frighten the attackers of herds with its morphology, and untiring worker to help human beings in varied tasks.

Its exceptional sense of smell, its intelligence and its endurance make of it also a candidate for modern works.
Nowadays the german shepherd finds it with the noblest services everywhere around the world:
-Rescuer [ earthquakes, other natural disasters... ]
-Police officer [ search for narcotics, of explosives, tracking, research in any kind who utilizes his sense of smell ]
-Combat Dog [ attacks, scout, guarding of significant sites, search for mines ]
-Guarding [ agent of safety, protection of properties ] Blind dog [ companion of the handicap ]
-Agriculture [ guarding of herds, hangars, property... ]

etc... the tasks are numerous and its capacities are far to beyond (truffle dog, gun dog...), how much dogs can be prided on such a versatility?
Of course the dog will have followed a further training to the basic training of the German shepherd for each one of these tasks, but aren't already in it naturally?
